ubuntu 14.04 - not able to restore Aptoncd .iso images

Asked by Rossco

I have a remote desktop with a fresh install of ubuntu 14.04.1, I have installed aptoncd so I can install updates, upgrades and other software from my laptop with the same ubuntu 14.04.1, which can be connected to the internet at my work place.
I have transferred an .iso image made by Aptoncd, but the "Load" button in Aptoncd is not working, which is needed to restore the .iso image.
I have found out through google that the "Load" button doesn't work without "hal" installed, but "hal" is no longer in the repos and I have tried to sudo apt-get hal but no joy there.
So how do I install "hal" so I can use the "Load" button to restore the packages from a Aptoncd.iso image? or is their some other way to make the "Load" button work?

If you copy the deb files from /var/cache/apt/archives you can install them with dpkg in a terminal. Much easier than wrestling with aptoncd imho.

Can you help with this problem?
