can I show an active link (html?) in gedit?

I can't make a link be active in gedit; when I copy an active link and put it in gedit it does not change to blue and work - just looks like regular text and can't be clicked upon. Dave

You can't do this.
gedit is supposed to edit documents in plain-text format, not as rich text.

Can you help with this problem?
