ubuntu stuck on loading screen wont go any further when ALT+CTRL+F1 get errors

when I try to boot up ubuntu
it just get stuck on the loading screen and never gets past that
its like its stuck in a loop

so I hit ctrl+Atl
T to pull up terminal

and this is what I get

Sounds like you added something to your bootup that doesn't start with a K or S

Can you boot to root recovery mode and check the files in / etc/rc.1 to /etc/rc.6 as well as /etc/rc.d

Have you been touching these folders by any chance?

yeah to try and fix and wireless network problem and something for avast

what is the command code to to boot to root recovery mode

or how do I get to it?
