unable to connect with LAN

we have two computer with UBUNTU 7.04. First time both the computer getting connected with LAN. After restarting the computer in second time both are not connecting with LAN.If i install WinXP or VISTA in both computer both are working fine. LAN card(Ethernet) which i have is RTL8111c

Can you provide more details about your LAN setup?

Also, please open up a terminal and type 'ifconfig' and paste the output from that command here.
