WiFi card not recognised by Ubuntu

Asked by krishnarajulu

I have Ubuntu 14.04 installed alongside Windows 7 on a DELL laptop. While Windows recognises the WiFi card and works on a wifi network, Ubuntu does not recognise the Wifi card. However, while installing Ubuntu using a CD the wifi card did get used and the sysytem was connected to the wifi network, once installation was completed the wifi got disconnected and the network function does not indicate the existence of a wifi card.

What wifi chip are you using?
Have you tried to connect to the web using a wired connection and getting full updates?

Can you help with this problem?
