Moving the panel on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Asked by Margaret Mackintosh

Hi,

When I first installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS the panel was hidden and had to put the mouse in the left hand corner repeatedly to finally get it to come up. Which was very annoying. Now for whatever reason it is staying out on the left side of the screen. Since the icons are 3/4 inches wide it makes the web sites when they come up that much shorter on the right side, so you cannot see the whole thing. Sometimes there is a sliding bar at the bottom that you can slide to the right and see rest of screen but not always.

I would like to place the panel at the top of the screen with smaller icons. How do I do this? Checked on Display, but the Launcher Placement is grayed out, so cannot be clicked on. Any suggestions?

You cannot move the Unity launcher unless you manually recode/recompile it some. The position is set in the code and is not changeable with settings (at present)

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the information. Thats a bummer. But, guess I am stuck with it. Sure be nice if they would put the panel/launcher at the top with smaller icons like in the older versions. Thanks again.
