How protect single user mode with password

Hai i am using ubuntu 10.04 i want know how to protect the grub with password to restrict a user to crack the root password to make this environment suggest me how to do this

sorry for the delay this is the content show when i give this command

i ll tell what i need when i power on the system it must go to the normal user login screen but when i tried to edit grub it must ask password for single usermod passwd

Lucid is no longer supported on the desktop. It is only supported on the server.

I suggest you wipe Lucid out and reinstall with a clean install of Trusty from CD / USB. Trusty is LTS and supported til April 2019. You can restore your user data from your backups.

if i install LTS server means can i do grub password protect plese tell the procedure ,
if i edit grub it must ask password before to go for single usermod passwd in ubuntu 10.04

Yes you can do it in Trusty and Precise and Saucy. The others are not supported in any way
