Looking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Ultra_series I don't think we have support for Ultra 10s as they are older machines based on the original UltraSPARC architecture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UltraSPARC). I think Ubuntu only works on later UltraSPARC T1 and x64-based machines.

http://www.ubuntu.com/sun provides more information on Ubuntu's support for Suns.

I think Debian works on a wider range of Sun hardware - www.debian.org/ports/sparc64/

I think it'll work on Ultra 10s too.

Take a look at the forums:

You should be able to install xwindows from the repositories. For example try sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop for xfce

You can also use:
'sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop' for a Kubuntu desktop setup.
'sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop' for a Ubuntu desktop setup.
