14.04 install fails to correctly install Windows 8.1 start up in menu

Asked by ndc_home

Having installed Ubuntu 14.04, the start up menu includes a Windows boot up entry but this fails. Is there a known method to get Windows 8.1 to boot please? Or is is a case of re-installing everything? Hope not. Thanks

Thanks for ideas. However nothing really worked. I've had to completely re-install Windows, but even so I'm left with a piece of Grub code in the start up which stops the some of the Recovery tools from starting. I've tried the Purge Grub suggestions, but that doesn't work. Any ideas how I can get rid of all traces of Grub from the start up please? Thanks
