You can install ubuntu on another disk than win xp pro if you want to keep it. Download the desktop cd (http://www.ubuntu.com/products/GetUbuntu/download?action=show&redirect=download)and boot your computer on it. Follow then the different screens, and you will see the default live system, which has been loaded in your RAM. To install it, you have a link on your desktop, and the installer will help you during the process. For more explanations, go on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation or ask to us. Hope that it helps you, welcome to you in ubuntu user's community !

link to the download page is : http://www.ubuntu.com/products/GetUbuntu/download?action=show&redirect=download

Sorry, I've done some weird with it by accident.

Don't hesitate to ask questions to us if there are something you don't understand, or if you don't know how to do something with Ubuntu.
There are a lot of things on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ if you want to read some docs about it, and a short preview of it's basic functionnalities is available here : http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop

Here are a few links that might be of interest to you to get started.

There are two common ways to get Ubuntu, you can download and burn the install CD yourself, or you can order some CDs to be shipped to you. https://shipit.ubuntu.com/
There are also alternative ways to get Ubuntu. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GettingUbuntu

If you are going to burn the disks yourself, please refer to:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

If you have any trouble booting the CD, please refer to:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HowToBootFromCd

The install is pretty self explanatory, if you want to do a Windows/Ubuntu dual boot, it's pretty easy, but you should check out the following page.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot

Hi,
Thanx for your support.I appologise for replying this much late. I have done everything that you people have suggested, but I am not been able to install ubuntu on my PC. When I try to boot from CD the ubuntu screen appears and when I try to install the message " Error reading disk, rebbot " is displaying.I have burned image on brand new moser bare disk. I have tryed several times by rebooting again and again, but it is of no use. Can anyone suggest any other way to install ubuntu on my PC

When you downloaded the image, did you verify the md5 file hash?

When you boot the cd, there is an option to check the cd for defects, have you done this?

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto gives you the procedures for verifying the ISO image.

It seems that you either have an issue with the image, cd, or drive.

Hi,
I have installed ubuntu on my PC but I am not able to connect to the Internet. I already have MS Windows and have configured Ethernet for Internet connection. Can anyone help me to solve this problem.

Hello,

It gets kind of confusing having multiple questions in one support request, could you close this one out if it has been solved and open a new support ticket with the new issue?

Best Regards,
