Could not calculate the upgrade

Asked by ODEON

Trying to upgrade from 13.04 to 14.04 and keep getting this:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

You need to upgrade to 13.10 first. I suggest you boot to the install CD for Saucy and upgrade using that.

Personally I would reinstall with the Trusty install CD and restore user data from backup.

Please read this:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/TrustyUpgrades

You cannot skip 13.10. You need to upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 and then from 13.10 to 14.04.

Easier way is to backup your data and perform a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04, as actionparsnip suggested.

Can you help with this problem?
