Wireless connection error for SOME networks

Asked by Talha Kabakuş

I have just installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and everything about wireless was ok until I come to work. 14.04 recognized & successfully connected to my home wireless network but it does not connect to my work wireless network. I'm able to see my work wireless network but always get connection error. Here is the related syslog:

I am having exactly the same problem. I can perfectly connect to my phone. Connecting with regular access points takes a lot, and several unsuccessfull attemps. So far I tested this with 3 linksys, 1 motorola and 1 tp-link. Some of them 802.11n, some 802.11g. Same behaviour in all cases.

I am using wl module by bcmwl-kernel-source_6.30.223.141+bdcom-0ubuntu2_amd64 . My wireless card is a BCM43228 802.11a/b/g/n

I got a slight better performance by disabling ipv6 and DHCP in the wireless network settings (via NetworkManager configuration tool). I did this with 3 wireless networks, and as result I managed to connect, but still it takes a lot, and several attemps.

I experimented with WPA and WPA2, using TKIP, AES, and TKIP+AES. Always the same. It happens with Motorola and Linksys wireless routers. As I said before, I have no problems at all connecting my laptop with my mobile (internet sharing via Android).

One last comment: after I installed Ubuntu 14.04, I had no problem. But troubles appear after the second time I connect to any wifi network. I did this twice (2 fresh installs, 2 times got connected perfectly after installing).

uname -a output:
Linux gonetil-laptop 3.13.0-30-generic #54-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jun 9 22:45:01 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

lsmod (the wifi part):

snd_hwdep 13602 1 snd_hda_codec
cfg80211 484040 1 wl

Finally, I'll leave here the last part of syslog, in which it shows some unsusccessfull attemps and one successfull, the last one.
