Karmic is no longer supported. I suggest you wipe it out and do a clean install of Trusty. It is LTS and supported til April 2014.

Why do you not have a backup to a removable storage like a USB drive?

Yes but when it was accessible, you could have taken a regular backup once a week, right?

If you had a backup you wouldnt have to do all this messing around. Would you? At least once a week we get posts with this dance and it's so easy to avoid but nobody thinks to backup their data. What exactly is your mindset that you don't have a backup? If your drive IDE or motor fails, where is your data. Think about it.....

You can use this guide to get at your data but a cheap USB drive would mean you can restore the data quickly and easily rather than using a liveCD or USB to get at the data.

Dance !!! well,,thank you sir for your nice reply and your efforts but my HD is for my files not for making backup for each file once a week,my home directory just have files i work on it and its updated daily
i choose to work over ubuntu because its safe and more powerful than windows and i never fell worry about my files or my system because its POWERFUL.
but i think its time to stop DANCING and messing around and wasting your time.
 finally ... thanks

If data is important, back it up.
