Run Ubuntu on Virtual machine

I am Using Ubuntu on Virtual machine as Virtual Machine running on Vista,the problem is i cant access the internet either lan or wireless and also i cant connet external devices to the Ubuntu eg, USB drives.
  Please help me out

I think it's problem with virtualization software. Which one do you use (VMware, VirtualBox...)?

if it is vmware then try configuring your network connections with bridged or NAT...and I am not sure about VBox..And USB? plugin the usb when you are working in your vm I mean place the cursor inside the vm( thats the simplest and noob answer i can give you.)
Make sure that you have installed the vmtools or whatever for vbox
