mobile broadband option has disappeared unable to use internet dongle

Asked by drskartik

I am using Ubuntu 13.10 on Acer Aspire one725 netbook.
I tried out Airtel 4g internet dongle which worked beutifully out of the box, being detected by the computer as mobile broadband.
On subsequent attempts, i found that the mobile broadband option itself has disappeared from the network connections menu though the connection is still saved as Airtel default under edit connections tab.
The modem is Huwaei E3272.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Andrew,
Finally solved it.
I did a fresh install of ubuntu 14.04 in my netbook.
and updated the usb-modeswitch-data ( I had an old image which I had downloaded when i had access to net)
Yes I used google to find out solutions but was not successful.
One should also know the exact thing to search on google!
regards
Kartik
