unable to boot Ubuntu after upgrade to 14.04 :(

Asked by TANMAY TRIVEDI

I had been using xubuntu 13.10 . But after I upgraded it to 14.04 it is unable to boot. It says :

error : symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found

Entering rescue mode ...

grub rescue>

It is not booting
:(

I also request you Sir to tell me where to get a thorough knowledge about boot loader ( LILO , GRUB etc ) so that i may not stuck in future.

I appreciate your views and help !
