Launcher buttons stop working

Asked by Graham Saulnier

I just upgraded to 14.04 and after being logged in for a little bit of time most of the locked launcher buttons stop working with left click. Left clicking does not cause any animation or error message. I can right click and open the applications (eg: firefox, sublime, terminal, nautilus...).

I can stll launch applications by searching for them.

Restarting lightdm or rebooting temporarily fixes the issue.

Which release did you upgrade from?
If you remove the locked application, then recreate it using the icon from Dash, is it ok?

I am coming from 13.10.

I'll try removing/adding the application. Thing is it happens to more than one application at a time. Once the issue happens I'll have at most one that still works.

One other detail, if I have applications open, I can still use the launcher to switch to them. I can't middle click to open a new instance (have to right click).

If you make a fresh Ubuntu user and log in as that, is it the same?

Removing and readding the application eliminates the issue for that application (temporarily).

I made a standard user and after opening a few applications the issue reproduced itself.
