Why Epson L-200 printer isn't supported officially yet in 14.04?

Asked by Rodrigo

Well, Epson already released last year official full feature drivers for linux. As you can see in this post of the forums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1671378&page=3&p=12905472#post12905472

I downloaded today 14.04 and tested LiveDVD and for my surprise, when I tried to add the printer there was no L-200/L-100 drivers in the list. From L family there was just L-1000 driver.

Is there any plans to support it in 14.04.1 at least? Should I report this as bug/feature request?

Thanks in advance.

Did you check the Epson site to see if they have deb files for the driver for the printer you have?

actionparsnip (andrew-woodhead666), yes.

They have, since the end of 2013. You can even download it here http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/?OSC=LX by search l200 (they have l100 and l800 too)

You must accept Epson's license before downloading. Maybe the license is the problem to official support? If so, why we have another Epson printer drivers?
