Need Tom Kruger to address his solution Question #236151 per my recent comment.

It's a 12.04LTS Unity Launchbar fix/problem that can be most easily described by reviewing my Question #236151. My recent added comment to that question addresses Tom Kruger's solution, properly answering my original query but brought up unintended consequences which require a further assist. This seems to me to be the easiest way to provide as much detail as possible, while keeping my followup problem, in context. (aside: pls advise if there's a more appropriate route I should have taken.)
