Network witn win8

How I can connect and get data from ubuntu machine from a win8 machine and vice versa. Please guide me about networking

If you install openssh-server you will get an SFTP server. You can then connect using Filezilla or even 3rd party apps which map drives to SFTP servers. You can also connect securely over WAN too if you setup your networking.

You can also right click a folder and share it using Samba and connect ober LAN but it will not be secure so WAN access should not be setup.

The SFTP method is a bit easier imho.
