Ubuntu 14.04 Switch to next input source - can't set single 'Hangul' key

Asked by zenera

Most Korean users use single 'Hangul' key to switch input sources(English <=> Korean) in Linux as well as Windows. After upgrading to Ubuntu 14.04, there is no way to change the default shortcut key('<Control>space' or <Super>space) to 'Hangul' key, because "System Settings" > "TextEntry" > "Switch to next source using:" or "System Settings" > "Keyboard" > "Shortcuts" > "Typing" > "Switch to next source" menu does not allow to input single meta key like 'Hangul' key. In English keyboard, 'Hangul' key matches to right <Alt> key.

Before Ubuntu 14.04, Koreans could set 'Hangul' key to switch input sources by using "ibus-setup" user interface. Now, the IBus UI is gone. We can set <Shift>space as an alternative, but it's not natural to use combined keys to most Korean users. Please remove the limitation of the user interface.

To work around this problem temporarily, I directly modified dconf database setting and it just works:
# gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings switch-input-source "['Hangul']"

I am not sure 'questions expired' means no one will ever handle this again, but I really hope this issue is fixed.
