Can't Login After 14.04 LTS Upgrade

Good morning! I received an automatic prompt to upgrade my Asus UL30A to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS yesterday and proceeded. After upgrading, I can enter into Ubuntu via the guest account but not via my user account. When I try to login via my user account, the splash screen pops up and the system hangs. I suspect this might have something to do with a graphic conflict. I can drop to the terminal via Ctrl-Alt-F1. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
