Scanner can't be detected

Asked by Vladimiro de Leon

Had a canon pixma e510 three in one, scanner, printer and copier. The printer and copier is working but the scanner is not being detected. I've used the built in simple scan application in Ubuntu. Do I have to install a driver for it and how will I do that? Appreicate much for the help. Thanks. By the way just a newbie in using Ubuntu. I would appreciate it much if any explanation would be in layman's term. Thanks again.

If you select the text then right click the selection you can select copy from there. This is a standard function
