How can I configure Launchpad so that it does not crash my 14.04 desktop?

Asked by kewlguy

There was an opportunity to add launchpad to my system and was offered in Firefox. I added Lauchpad through the popup.

When I clicked on Launchpad from my Dash it brought my i7 quad-core system to it's knees.

I have since discovered that I believe that it is lauching the Ubuntu Browser not Firefox and the Ubuntu Browser also crashes though does not lock up my desktop.

How can I configure this sucker to open the default browser(Firefox) rather than the Ubuntu Browser that does not seem to lauch firefox and has no menu etc?

I took the easy route that ensures more of my privacy I removed ALL unity webapps.

Well, removing Unity webapps made using my Ubuntu 14.04 allot less fun. So I reinstalled them and I will avoid the Launchpad popup, at least until I learn about and install pgp keys.

I would have appreciated a more detailed answer than " you could edit the launcher to run firefox," I thought that is what setting firefox as DEFAULT would take care of.

Sorry, for the hissy fit and the rant.
