One Click Access to Google Drive

Asked by TM Hart

Facing loss of Ubuntu One, I decided to try Google Drive on my Ubuntu Desktop op/sys. Google offers drive synch software for Windows and Mac, but not Linux. It was annoying to open Firefox, go to the Google Drive site and log in for simple file transfers. My solution was to install Google Chrome, go to Google Drive, log in and make that Chrome's homepage.

When I click on the Chrome desktop icon, the browser opens and shows my Google Drive page - no log-in is needed. I can click on a file and download it or click on the upload icon to add a new file. This is not quite as convenient as drag-and-drop with Ubuntu One, but it is quick and easy enough. The result is that I am just one click away from access to files in cloud storage.

Curious to know if anyone has found better options?
