Cannot shut down - Ubuntu 14.04

I have an Acer Aspire V5-571(Laptop) running Ubuntu 14.04,... when I request "shut down" system powers down and then "restarts"...

could you post the output of: lsb_release -a

You can do this by opening a terminal (found in the Unity Dash).

sudo shutdown -h now

Does it turn off?

Same result I'm afraid... Still restarts.

I'm not sure anyone knows what the problem is! I really can't help you
with this, because I've never seen anything like this before! Have you
tried googling it?
