Does Ubuntu Trusty work on ROG g7vw?

Hi, My Friend John H has an ROG g75vw-bbk5, It had a lot of Brightness and Graphics Problems with Ubuntu 13.04. So, my question is that will the latest version of Ubuntu (14.04 Trusty Tahr) work for him, below are it's hardware specs:
CPU: 2.3-GHz Intel Core i7-3610QM
RAM: 12GB
HDD: 750GB
Graphics Card: 2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M (No Intel Integrated Graphics)
