DVD drive is not working properly

Hi i am using ubuntu 12.04 LTS
i have a DVD-R drive is there but it is not reading any kind of DVDs but it is reading CDs only so can any please help me?

In my system libdvdread4 is already installed.
The link which you send has some information about Region Codes i thought
it is not the problem because it successfully detects any kind of CDs but
it is not detecting only DVDs so can you please tell me another solution?
