Installation Error Message "??? ???"

Asked by Stephen Wen

I was trying to install Ubuntu 14.04 on my desktop which had windows 7 exclusively.
Initially, I tried to install and the windows installation was not found, so I proceeded to create a new blank partition on which to install Ubuntu.
I did this and I did get the option to install alongside other OSes, but when I try that, I get a pop up that is titled "??? ???" and has a body of "??? ???" with an OK button that doesn't work.
I have tried this using the "Something Else" where I further split my partition into a root and swap partitions and I get the same popup as when I tried using the Install Alongside Other OS option.

I was using a 250GB partition that I had split into 234GB root and 16GB swap (I have 8GB RAM).
I have a RAID 5 set up.

The pop up appears over the "Where are you?" page and when I tried install alongside other OS, I could click OK and it would bring me back to the memory allocation page, but when I try something else, I get stuck and the pop up won't go away.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance
