HDMI connection to TV has no sound

Asked by nigel brown

My system is 12.04. Connecting the TV to the PC with an HDMI cable gives me a perfect image but no sound. By going to Sounds via the tool bar I found that the HDMI / display port is not there, so I can´t activate it. There are only the analogue speakers and the digital S/PDIF options. Can anyone tell me what I need to do?

Try `chmod --help' for more information.
nigel@nigel-GA-78LMT-USB3:~$ +x ./alsa-info.sh && ./alsa-info.sh --upload

I notice at the end it says chmod seems to be lacking something. Is this
the path to a solution?
