shutdown problem with EDGY

Asked by Govindarajan

I have successfully installed ubuntu 6.10 on my Pentium 4 and I have an ASUS Extreme AS300SE/T video card. When I shutdown the system, it goes through normally and I see the two following messages:

Dismounting temporary filesystem
Will halt

The CPU power is not shut and the UBUNTU logo persists on the screen. There is no disk activity as far as I can see. I power it down manually and the system comes off normally when I boot the next time. I checked acpid with ps command. It is there. There is no apmd running.
Any suggestions. Many thanks

Seems to be a bug report for System not shutting down at

https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/43961

maybe adding "acpi=force" to your grub boot entry might fix the problem...

I tried both acpi=force and no acpi. It does not seem to help. TX

Can you help with this problem?
