Is it bad that I had to disable this repository? (14.04)

Asked by DHCross

I had to disable http://ppa.launchpad.net/nvbn-rm/ppa/ubuntu trusty main because it would not download. The system was giving me the "Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/ 404 Not Found" errors on that repository. But isn't that an important one to have enabled?

I have the feeling this launchpad site is for true experts, so I apologize if I'm asking this in the wrong forum.

Please take a look here:

http://ppa.launchpad.net/nvbn-rm/ppa/ubuntu/dists/

Trusty is not in the list, so not supported.

The nvbn-rm PPA supports Ubuntu releases up to saucy, but not trusty.

So it is normal for that PPA to give a 404 error (file not found error).

There is no directory called trusty at that PPA repository.

I suppose it will be added after the 17th of this month, when 14.04 is offiically released?

The contents of PPAs ("Personal Package Archives") lie fully in the responsibility of the respective owners. They decide what packages they provide, and for which Ubuntu release. You might contact the provider of that PPA to ask him about package versions for trusty.
