[Ubuntu 14.04] Steam does not start/package libgl1-nvidia-glx:i386 not found

Asked by tuxator

Hey,

I'm running a freshly installed/updated Ubuntu 14.04 on an Optimus Nvidia machine and Steam refuses to run. It says that it misses the 32bit variant of the libGL.so.1 library. Now, according to some forum posts, one should simply install the libgl1-nvidia-glx:i386 package...but that does not exist. And there is no libgl1-nvidia-glx package either.

I'm kind of stumped now and hope that someone can help me here.

I suggest you report a bug. Trusty is not ready and not stable.

well since I haven't used a Nvidia card before, I wasn't sure if it's me doing something wrong or if it's really a bug.
