Dual Boot Settings Overwritten on Kernel Update

Asked by Benjamin Prosnitz

If the grub /boot/grub/menu.lst file is updated to accomodate a dual-boot configuration, it is overwritten when the kernel is updated. It seems unnecessary to overwrite this on every update, and a fix would be very welcome.

When is new kernel version installed it have to be added to boot menu, so installation proces overwrite /boot/grub/menu.lst - but (!) not all - only parts between these two lines:

### BEGIN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST
### END DEBIAN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST

so if you want not to overwrite Windows (or another) choise in menu, you have to add them outside this "area".

Can you help with this problem?
