how to install to ps3?

i have a 40GB ps3, and i dont know what to download exactly in order to install to my ps3, i paid $400 for this system and i dont wanna take any chances messing it up, i just wanna be able to run firefox, and download programs on my ps3, is this the best program for me? i do not have an HDTV, so i cant use YDL, this program seems pretty kool, i might put it on my computer, the ps3 is PowerPC but yet 7.10 doesnt support PowerPC? so how does that work? wikipedia tells me to get the text installer, but i still dont know which to click for "What type of computer do you have?"

I have 40GB ps3 and I am unable to install Ubuntu in it. I have tried Ubuntu 9.04 and 7.10 but in both the cases it says no vrs found.
Plz tell me if its hardware problem. I m worried about it.

There was a power cut during installation. But i checked everything is working fine.
I tried 100times, till lease its working fine but after that it says no vrs found.
Plz tell me what to do.
