computer shuts down spasmodically

Mostly on internet (up to date Firefox), computer shuts down with no warning or instruction.

Will not start up again until the powere chord has been taken out and replaced

I suggest you test your RAM using memtest.

Seems OK - I feel it may have been a faulty keyboard / USB connection.
Have now brought into use old PS2 keyboard and all seems well.

RAM seems OK - thank you.

Feel it may have been a dodgy keyboard / USB sector - all seems well by using a PS2 (old )keybaord
