Add-ons Download Problem
Hello- I've been tring to download epson scanner drivers from my downloads file that came from epson's website. When I go to add-ons & select a file I get "This add-on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt". I have read where other people have downloaded from that site. The disc that came with the all-in-one printer can't be read. I've been searching for two days now with no results. I'm lost! OS is Ubuntu 12.04LTS. Thanks!

Was it not possible to use scanner without downloading anything? I mean using "Simple Scan" (given in your Ubuntu as default).
Please don't forget to answer to #1

I was able to print but not scan using Simple Scan or Xsane or Skanlite.
When I open Xsane I get 4 displays at once of different settings like
color adjustment and page adjustments and when I close one box they all
disappear.

When I opened Xsane it displayed 4 displays of different settings & when
I closed 1 box they all disappeared, it didn't work, nor did simple scan
or scan lite.

How can I tell if download installed? I can send you info on backend &
added printers if given terminal commands if needed. that download
looked good, it matched my vendor & products numbers, printer is epson
WF-2540. I do restart after every download.
