I coudn't update my system from 6.06 to 6.10

Asked by Alejandro Kocsard

I'm trying to update ny system from 6.06 to 6.10.
I tried with the "oficial method" gksu "update-manager -c" and when is downloading the udate tools, it suddenly stops and said:

authenticate '/tmp/tmpIa7xEx/edgy.tar.gz' against '/tmp/tmpIa7xEx/edgy.tar.gz.gpg'
can't find DistUpgradeViewGtk

What can I do?

It's a confirmed bug of the update manager, I've linked it to your support request (Bug #67999).
You should consider upgrading to Edgy (6.10) by editing your sources list (for instance by typing in a Terminal "sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list" or editing this file as a superuser in whatever editor you prefer). In this file change all instances of "dapper" to "edgy". Save the file and run the following commands in a terminal:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Good luck!
