How to format USB drive

I have 'sandisk' usb pendrive of 8gb. While working on Win 8 it got write protected.The message I receive is 'The disk is write protected'. I am unable to format it.Is there any solution to format the said pendrive.The file system if FAT32.

You can use gparted. Be sure there is not a readonly switch on the card itself to be sure its not readonly that way.

Install it using software centre and launch using Dash as usual. The GUI is quite friendly. Be sure you are looking at the USB drive and not the one you are booting to.
