Live CD installation problem - "unable to attach hardware"

Hi,

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 7.10 in my laptop using the live CD. When the installation reaches the "loading hardware drivers" phase it shows the following error message:

* loading hardware drivers...
[117.772000] wifi%d: unable to attach hardware "Hardware revision not supported" (HAL status 13)

After that error message the installation program does not respond.

I've tryed to use 'nolapic' and 'noapic' parameters but I had the same error message.

Here are my system specs:

Notebook Microboard Centturion Plus

processor: AMD Turion 64X2 TL-50
motherboard: ASUS T12UG, RAM 2GB
video: ATI Radeon X1200
Wireless: 802.11 b/g USB Wireless LAN Module Atheros AR5007EG
Ethernet: Base-T Ethernet LAN

my best guess is that your wireless network card is causing problems while booting

just one quick check, while booting, try booting with the kill switch (this is a little switch on the side/front/back of your laptop that physicly disables the wireless) on, and if that doesnt work try booting with it off.

if that doesnt work, boot and when you get to the cd menu, press F6, and erase the "quite" and "splash" part, that way you can tell me what it was doing before the error message popped up, theres usually a hint there.

Booting without the "quiet" and "splash" I get the following output:

[111.676000] wlan 0.8.4.2 (0.9.3.2)
[112.192000] ath_pci: 0.9.4.5 (0.9.3.2)

[112.196000] wifi%d: unable to attach hardware "Hardware revision not supported" (HAL status 13)
[112.196000] ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:06:00.0 disabled
[112.324000] Linux video capture interface v2.00
[112.504000] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device USB2.0 1.3M UVC WebCam (04f2:b012)
[112.504000] usbcore: registred new interface driver UVC video
[113.160000] cs: IO port probe 0x100-0x3af: clean
[113.160000] cs: IO port probe 0x3e0-0x4ff:

After the last line the install program stops and does not respond.

hmmmmm :S
I dont know what the problem might be, its probably that your hardware isnt supported, you might want to bring it up as a bug (mentioning your system type and stats) and ask them to make a kernel on ubuntu for your system (ask nicely ;)

hope this helped,

Hello,

Did you try booting with the wireless disabled, either with the switch, or in the BIOS.
