OK it was incorrect pasting of url that did me in.. :) anyways sorry for that..

Its gnome environment (GNU Network Object Model Environment) the environment which is by default in ubuntu... with the gdesklets enabled..

To enable gdesklets you have to enable extra repositories,

To do that:

and give the following command in a terminal (applications -> accessories -> terminal)

sudo apt-get install gdesklets

It's Gnome, lower panel is Avant Window Navigator and the "text" on desktop is conky.
