How can I access WindowsXP from Ubuntu 6.06, on my dual booted computer

Asked by Paul E H Jones

My computer is an Athlon64 2000+ with two 40GB hard disks on which I have WindowsXP and Ubuntu 6.06 LTS

I need to transfer files from WinXp and at the moment successfully use a rewritable cd to do it rather laboriously.

Is there any way that I can access Windows from within Ubuntu?

To view your Windows/Mac partitions see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AutomaticallyMountPartitions
Writing to ntfs is not supported or recommended but to copy files from ntfs to ubuntu to burn it should only need reading rights. that guide should help you with it.

I use to reserve a msdos partition (a couple of GiBs) on a system hard disk and put there any data to transfer from/to the two operating systems.

Can you help with this problem?
