my ubauntu 7.10 won't play and dvds

when i play my cds it get really skippy but the disc have no scratches

what is the regionset of your DVD romdrive

then there should not be any problem
try doing the following

for gutsy
open the Terminal, and copy and paste the following command

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

then copy and paste the following command

sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/gutsy.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list

then again copy and paste the following command

wget -q http://packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add - && sudo apt-get update

and this one too

sudo apt-get install libdvdcss2

and the following too

sudo apt-get install w32codecs
