Neo, I'm having a similar problem with the flickering screen. Whenever I'm in full screen in Opera and I right click on the mouse or hover my mouse over a link, my screen flickers. It's very annoying. You mentioned disabling Compriz. Where can I do that?

Roboslacker, I got custom enabled and I don't want to disable that. I love my visual effects. Any other suggestions?

This sounds like this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/153204

Try this for a fix: gconftool-2 --set /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/unredirect_fullscreen_windows --type bool 0
To revert: gconftool-2 --set /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/unredirect_fullscreen_windows --type bool 1

john jackson, I'm pleased to announce that I've totally given up on ubuntu (thank god)! and have returned to XP (thank god)!

Ubuntu was the worst experience I've ever had. XP is the best o/s on the planet. Why anyone would discard XP and instead invite a battery of headaches by installing ubuntu is WAY beyond explanation.

To that, I'm proud to say, UBUNTU SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
