Evolution: How to correct "TCP connection reset by peer" error message. I can no longer send or receive on Evolution

Asked by Pablo

For the past 24 hours when I attempt to send and receive on Evolution I get the message that it is unable to connect with pop.mail.yahoo.com: TCP connection reset by peer. I have no trouble accessing myu Yahoo mail account directly through the internet browser. How can I correct this error to regain use of Evolution?

Thank you

Pablo

Just to add information--I have a wifi connection but I reset the router and then also made a wired ethernet connection, but neither one solved the problem.

Maybe the yahoo servers have problems. Webmail and IMAP/POP are usually using different servers.

If I access the same yahoo email account with Thunderbird, on the same computer. I have no problem. So the problem seems to be with Evolution.

I will gladly r eport a bug. But can you recommend a short-term solution? 1) Delete and add the yahoo address? 2)uninstall and reinstall Evolution? 3)Switch to Thunderbird?

Thanks again for your help?

I didn't mean the question mark at the end of my gratitude for your help. That was an accident. I sincerely appreciate the help on this and other problems over the years.

Had the same problem and fixed it with changing port from 25 to 587 in the settings for my user.
