setting up a modem

Asked by Kenny Fields

The version of Ubuntu the I have is 6.10 ( I've requested the newer version 7.10). I would like to set up my modem so I can access the internet. I have Creative Modem Blaster PCI Value D-15652-1 modem. I looked at the 'packages' offered on this web site, but I don't know if I need the wvdial program or the tor program or a different program in order for my dial up modem to work.
Any suggestions?

Tor isn't for dial is an anonymizer http://www.torproject.org/

Please retrive the pci id of your modem to do this open a terminal from Applications>Accessories>Terminal and type:

lspci

and look/compare at this page: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=673245

Hope this helps
