installing skype on ubuntu 13.10

Skype is available in the Software Center so you just need to look for it and press Install button.

could find only plugins in the software center..

Sorry, you are right. To make it available you must open the application 'Software & Updates', go to tag 'Other Software' and enable 'Canonical Partners' source. If after that you can't still find it you can use the following commands in a terminal:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install skype

Alternatively you can also download it froms its offical website:
http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-linux/

The currently available version is 4.2.0.11-0ubuntu0.12.04.2 but it's valid for 13.10.

downloading from the skype site and installing the file via the software center worked perfectly!
