mysql config missing file

Asked by João Pinto on 2005-10-09

After playing around with mysql I have deleted /etc/mysql, I have reinstalled the mysql packages however there is a file which is never reinstalled.

lamego@lamego-ubuntu:~/ircsvs/local/backup$ sudo /etc/init.d/mysql start
Starting MySQL database server: mysqld.
/etc/init.d/mysql: line 88: /etc/mysql/debian-start: No such file or directory
lamego@lamego-ubuntu:~/ircsvs/local/backup$

How can find the packake and retrieve the /etc/mysql/debian-start ?

Shouldn't the file be installed with the mysql-server or mysql-common ?

I found how to fix it, removing it with the --purge:

 sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql-server
and
 sudo apt-get install mysql-server

got the same problem: synaptic has got even frozen for this. Thanks

ok so to fix
touch /etc/mysql/debian-start
chown mysql:mysql /etc/mysql/debian-start
chmod ug+x /etc/mysql/debian-start
