Umbutu 7.10 manual flash player 9 install

Asked by John McEnroe

Attempting to install Flash Player 9 on Mozilla Firefox.

System Ubuntu 7.10
Mozilla Firefox
on Toshiba Satellite A65 laptop
2/05/08

Flash Player 9 downloaded Option 1: .tar.gz from this source tinyurl.com/r4tj7

It could not be installed using several methods.

I went to www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/flash where I found a possible bug fix, updated 02/05/2008:
If you're installing Flash between January and April 2008, there is a bug with the usual installation method, so you should do a manual installation of Flash instead of following the tutorial outlined below.
www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/flashmanual

I went all the way through the manual install, but Iunable to complete opening or installing flash and I received error message (which I lost) after following the instructions.

I'm converting this to a question, since it's a support request rather than a bug report.

Hello

Type these commands in a terminal (applications -> accessories -> terminal)

wget http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz

Then..
Change directory to Dektop by running the command "cd Desktop", without the quotes.
Then..

tar xvfz install_flash_player_9_linux

cd install_flash_player_9_linux

./flashplayer-installer

To install flash on gutsy..

Another alternative easy way is

http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10761023/flashplugin-nonfree_9.0.115.0ubuntu2_i386.deb

Click on the link above and download the .deb file after downloading it double click on it and install it to get flash..

Hope that helps

Bhavani Shankar.
