Report a question wants a password?

Asked by tadiv

I'm getting a popup that claims that a system error was detected - when I click the "Report Problem" button I get a dialog that is asking for an authorization password - this seems fishy to me - can any advise me further? Here is a link to the initial pop-up (which seems to have a timeout)...

P.S. IF I can capture the other dialog, I'll post an image of it too...

Some startup process had an issue. Does the OS run ok after the dialogue is dealt with?

What is the output of :

lsb_release -a; uname -a

Thanks

The OS seems fine if I cancel the dailog, but the probelm detected dialog pops pretty much like clockwork...

I just can't understand why a password would be needed to report a problem...

This is correct. The bug collector Apport needs your authentication to collect the information about your system. Some of them are protected and you have to eleveate the rights of the process to gain access to them.
